For all have sinned...

Admin Note: No sooner had I posted my first blog yesterday than I felt the need to remain relevant. The pressure of “What will I post tomorrow?” hit me. So to be clear, I’m not here to build a loyal fan base and boost my ego. If I don’t have anything poignant to say, I’m not going to make something up just to stay relevant.

Nation of Islam

I’m going to make a very controversial statement: Black Lives Matters and the Aryan Nation are the same. They share many of the same ideals and carry many of the same flaws. This short list of groups represents a larger subset of this country that is in direct defiance to the spirit of unity and freedom that led the Founding Fathers to dissolve ties to Great Britain. The Declaration of Independence is very clear, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights…” Any time a group of individuals sets themselves apart as better than or more deserving than another, that group violates the clear premise on which this great nation was founded. To accept such intolerant thinking is to foster hate and invite discrimination. I proffer there is enough hate in this world already that we don’t need to invent new and creative causes to spread it even further.

Contrast that with Bible verses in Galatians 3:28, Romans 2:11, John 13:16, and even Romans 3:23. The standard is God and the standard bearer is Jesus – not Donald Trump, Nancy Pelosi, Mother Theresa or even the Pope. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” In the most important metric of life, the most critical measure of success, we are all equal – we are all failures.

So what do we do about it? What can we do to make things right?

We can start by not supporting hate groups of all colors. “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet” (Shakespeare – Romeo and Juliet). Hate repackaged, covered in chocolate and sprinkled with coconut is still hate. Don’t buy into the hype. Treat each other as equals.

Turn the other cheek.
