(RT) Terrorism (Random Thoughts)

This is just a quick random thought for everyone trying to use the label of “terrorism” for everything from Black Lives Matters rallies to recent defacing and destruction of monuments. Unfortunately the word “terrorism” has many definitions depending on the source and the fact that more than one source exists contributes to the confusion.

The legal US leader on countering terrorism, the FBI, defines it as: “the unlawful use of force or violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.”

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines terrorism as: “The systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion.”

Let’s be very clear – terrorism is a very specific act that requires a very specific and overwhelming response. Please don’t dilute or confuse the issue by misusing the label.
