Love is Colorblind
Even as Christians, in today’s world we spend so much time looking at the negative. There is plenty of it around so it’s easy to see how we get caught up in it. We want to be, and try to be, glass half full type people, ever the optimist, always finding the silver lining, but we still highlight the negative. Today, I choose to ignore the negative and focus on the positive. Today, I’m not even glass half full. Today, I’m thankful to have a glass!
I borrowed the below picture from an old friend, Dolly McFarland, who re-posted it on Facebook from the original author, Brittany McKee. I’m highlighting this because it’s the kind of Love Christ calls us to have – love that is patient, love that is kind, love that gives deference to another, love that is colorblind. As seen in the photo, and as the story goes, a lady had a medical emergency in a Walmart and a young employee sat with her, providing his body as a support for her, until medical attention arrived. He didn’t do it because he was asked – he wasn’t. He didn’t do it for recognition – without this photo/story there wouldn’t be any. He did it because it was right.
He did it out of love.
Lord, may I strive to live the kind of love this man shows to a stranger. May I be Your hands and feet in someone’s time of need. May I love like Jason from Walmart.
