Black Supremacy, White Privilege, & Little Green Men

My friends, regardless of the color of their skin, will agree I’m not racist. They know me, have lived with me and worked beside me, and will agree that I suffer no fools. Stupidity and hate come in all colors and sizes, genders and identities, regardless of position, narrative, or media coverage. Still, others will say just because I use the phrase “Black Supremacy” in this blog title that I have to be racist. Those are the people who don’t know me, don’t care to know me, and prefer to listen to the god of this world.

That god, the one with the little “g” is the cause of all the hate.

So I chose my title this morning deliberately. The weekend news is full of statements by Representatives Maxine Waters (D. FL) and Frederica Wilson (D. FL) hating on the President. One laughs at the rise of her celebrity star over mistreatment of a Gold Star while the other advances hate and discord under the guise of unity – she’d “take him out” if given the chance. At the same time millionaire athletes continue their assault on defenders of freedom under the guise of social injustice created by White Privilege. In fact, their ringleader didn’t even attend the most recent meeting, choosing to incite more hate via social engineering (er, I mean, social media) than to sit down to an open dialogue. In the meantime, soldiers are on the front lines in countries most American’s can’t even find on a map fighting wars most Americans will never understand, dying for people most Americans will never meet all under the orders of a President most Americans will never like.

Such hate and discord has to be, unfortunately.

“When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. These things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, as well as famines. These are the beginning of birth pains. So be on your guard. You will be handed over to the councils and beaten in the synagogues. On My account, you will stand before governors and kings as witnesses to them.” (Mark 13:7-9, NIV)

But we don’t have to be a party to it. As Christians, we have a higher calling. Our place isn’t to be green with envy over what someone else has, does, or says. Rather, we are to be content with what we have and to love those foolish enough to fall for Little g’s tactics.

So the next time you hear the President or another Representative spouting hate, remind him or her that God doesn’t live where hate resides. “If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.” (1 John 1:6, NIV) “Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister is still in the darkness.” (1 John 2:9, NIV)

“To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech. Counsel and sound judgment are mine; I have insight, I have power. By me kings reign and rulers issue decrees that are just; by me princes govern, and nobles – all who rule on earth.” (Prov. 8:13-15, NIV)

So don’t fall into Little g’s hateful trap. Where his hate divides, God provides! Fear the LORD, reject hate, and walk in His light.

“Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.” (Luke 6:27-28, NIV)
