Four Growth Layers - Inconceivable!
After several weeks of care and feeding we’re finally reaching the end of our fourth growth layer. It’s taken a while to get here, and to be honest it’s something we really didn’t think would happen for several months, but here we are in mid-January and we’re already getting ready for number five. It’s even more impressive because we thought we’d erred last fall and killed the whole thing.
You see, back in October we decided instead of treating for insects like we did last year, which almost killed the poor guy, we would weather the possible indoor flying storm and let nature and good housekeeping win the day. We found good sources of sunlight and committed to watering every couple of days. Since that time we’ve seen four different periods of new growth on my rubber plant alone – and you can’t even measure the new growth on the umbrella tree in my office. Even in the cooler temperatures and reduced sun that comes along with the season, they’re thriving!
It’s funny how a simple plant sitting in my office reminds me that God is good. Matthew 6:26 says, “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”
I look at my rubber plant and my umbrella tree and think, am I not much more valuable than they?
God is good. It’s really that simple.
(This blog is about the wonderful things God does, those simple reminders in everyday life He’s given us to point to His awesome goodness. That’s all. That’s enough.)
